![]() And I haven't even talked about the manta rays! So many! They were beautiful, magical, otherworldly, majestic, graceful, and I could go on. The sunset was beautiful, getting a chance to snorkle a little beforehand was useful to get out the jitters early, and the pineapple and cookies were refreshing and yummy. The captain was clearly knowledgeable/experienced and took great care and pride in the boat and equipment. They all clearly have respect for the ocean and manta rays and I was impressed with their efficient operation. ![]() I was also impressed how quickly they learned everyone's names and took time to talk and joke with everyone on the way out and back. They really paid attention to everyone's comfort levels and I think everyone felt cared for and safe. I had never swam in the ocean and had a mild panicky moment in the water (it really wasn't scary, but my nervous system didn't listen to me) and Shauna calmly suggested I try a different mask which made all the difference. Shauna was so kind and patient with everyone, especially me, who is not only shy, but also a pretty weak/beginner swimmer & snorkeler. Drew was a sweetheart and his infectious enthusiasm really made what could be an intimidating experience into a really fun one. I appreciated the attention to safety by the captain & crew. ![]() I learned a lot about mantas, and this tour seemed well organized, with treats, water, non-stop info. Do have warm clothes to get back in to, as you will get chilled. The waves after windy weather were big (although calmer at the dive site which is protected by a breakwater). Arriving early to this spot guarantees the best chance of seeing something Top tips - if you get seasick at all, do take something in advance. This tour gives you 4 hours on the boat and takes you to a less crowded area for the manta watching. It was like looking in to the belly of a whale. ![]() The mantas had been elusive for several days but we were lucky and got one (Jordan) who stuck around for almost an hour, letting me stare right in to his eyes and huge mouth. The crew and captain were great, full of information about the protocols and what we were seeing. I am not an experienced snorkeler and getting on the boat and into the water required anti-nausea pills and some grit, but I am so glad I did it. An astonishing experience and one I won't ever forget. ![]()
